The issue, BidMagic failed to connect to the SQL Database.
This can be the result of a Windows update that stopped the database program from working to update a windows service.
Then the Database Connection Manager appears. It wants you to start SQL Server by using either button to start the SQL database.
99% of the time this works correctly, there are times when you need to start it from the SQL Server Connection Manager.
Here is quick method for Windows 10.
Please try these directions below to restore operation of SQL Server.
Go to Windows Start Button

Select all programs Windows7 [Windows10, select All Apps]
Then SQL Server 2008 R2, Configuration Tools or SQL Server 2012, Configuration or SQL Server 2014, Configuration Manager.

Depending on your user settings, account control panel may appear, if so, please select yes.

Select SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)

Select the Green Start Service Button.



Close the configuration manager and try Running BidMagic again.

Left click on "Recovery” in SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) Properties

Confirm the First, Second and Subsequent failure options have been set to “Restart the Service”
|
|
If not, please select "Restart the Service" from the dropdown selection

Left click on "OK button"
|
|
Left click on Start in the middle panel
|
|
Click on "Close (button)". Please re-try running BidMagic.

If you are using Windows10 and have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed, Windows10 removes the
SQL Server Configuration Manager from view.
To restart SQL Server, you may need to open the Services window.
Open the Control Panel; go to Administrative Tools, then to Services.
Inside the list, locate the entry that says SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS).
After you have found it, right-click on it and select Start.
This process can be avoided by upgrading your version of SQL Server to 2014 or greater.
